2010 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

Our slogan for our Membership Drive this year is: "Going Nowhere? You're Heading Our Way!" The Nobodies

Pretzel and I are getting ready to travel through Minnesota, Wisconsin and North and South Dakota looking for new members. If you are interested in joining us on the membership drive please contact me in the next few days. We are leaving some time next week.
We are looking forward to meeting many bikers and having the opportunity to introduce them to the Nobodies. We feel our 2010 slogan speaks volumes.
This year we will be spending a significant portion of our budget exploring the lost art of wandering. The majority of our research will be on the road using trial and error as our main mode of learning.
We will be developing a pamphlet on the dos and don'ts of wandering. We have also decided to dedicate our 2010 Nobody Bike Tour to wandering. Our tentative dates for the tour are July 14 - 21. We will be sharing more specifics in the next couple of weeks.

MUFFIN RUN

A beautiful spring day greeted the Muffin Run Riders. Five Nobodies and one somebody headed up the Northshore of Lake Superior to the city of Two Harbors. As tradition demands, we stopped at the Vanilla Bean Coffee Shop.

A rainbow of motorcycles

Dirty Deeds is wearing her Aerostitch ride wear, while muscling her hefty Suzuki 250 out of a wayside rest on the edge of Lake Superior. Gutts, Smelty and Slick are getting ready to ride.

It is all about the Muffins. One of the Nobody 0 cc members is enjoying his muffin meal.

When the Nobodies enter the Vanilla Bean, customers scatter. We are always guaranteed our favorite table regardless of who may be occupying it when we enter. There are advantages to being feared.

After a great breakfast it is time to head back to Duluth. The somebody in the red Aerostich Jacket did not succumb to the Nobody pressure. I it just a matter of time before he embraces the Nobody Life Style. We are so confident that he is going to become a Nobody, we have already chosen his motorcycle name.

MUFFIN RUN

This Saturday May 15, we will be taking a Muffin Run. If you are interested contact me at bikerbergums@msn.com

The Muffin Run is your chance to explore the life of a Nobody.

TAKING A BIKE FOR A WALK

I recently took a course offered by the Nobody Motorcycle Museum. It was called: TAKING YOUR BIKE FOR A WALK. Dr. Backfire's presentation was composed of three parts.
  1. The philosophy of motorcycle care
  2. Compassion to the inanimate
  3. Nurture through nature

It is too bad that Dr. Backfire refuses to be video taped or recorded, because his presentation was brilliant. After attending the course I immediately went home and took my Suzuki 125 for a walk and applied several of the principles I had just learned. It was amazing how my bike responded.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE TOGETHER
I hope to start taking one of my bikes for a walk every week. I understand that Dr. Backfire's most recent book Taking Your Bike For A Walk will be available at Barnes and Noble on May23. I can't wait to purchase the book.

THE POTATO RUN

The annual Potato Run was attended by Pretzel and myself. We left Duluth at about 10 am on May 1. It was a cool day in the 40's with a brisk wind.

We stooped by the Nobody Museum to see if Backfire was able to join us for the ride.
He had some work to do on one of the new displays, so he was unable to take the ride.

Pretzel and I were rather angry with him.

We weren't angry very long.

The wind was blowing so hard we had to lean toward the south to hold our ground.

Our first and primary stop was at Duquette. Pretzel was talking to the potatoes........yes he said they answered him.

I took a little jog with the potato that was calling Pretzel names.

Our next stop was 46 miles down Hwy 23 at Lena's Coffee Shop in Askov. We like Lena. She made us some good strong Swedish coffee. We ended up buying some lingenberry plants.

Lena's has a special place. She makes rutabaga shakes. Pretzel had one last year. He claimed I had one too, but I don't remember. When I think real hard, I get a funny look on my face.

This is motorcyclist art.

Pretzel and I got directions on how to get over to Wisconsin using county roads. The directions seem very confusing, but actually got us to Danbury Wisconsin without getting lost or needing to ask for directions.

We ended up riding 160 miles and had a great time. The potatoes did well and are now planted in the garden.
Next year you should consider joining us for this fantastic ride.
